First, and foremost, the heart of ON THE ROCK Ministries is the local church and her ministry. God has called us to step along side pastors and the local church for a short time (usually 5 or 6 days) and help in inspiring, renewing, and equipping members to be more effective in the outreach of their local congregation. We would love to come to your church for a week of refiring, renewing, and reviving.

If you believe we can help you in the local church, with a special conference, camp meeting, or other training event, call us. We ask that you be somewhat flexible as our calendar is fairly full up to about a year away. Let us know what you need. If we can help you, we will set a date. If it is not in line with our gifts and graces, we might be able to refer you to someone whom we would use.

On the other tabs is a sample schedule of what a week might look like in your church. This is just a sample and is not in stone. You may have other needs and goals. Just let us know. Thank you for your prayers for the ministry to which God has called us.

In Him,
   John Barrett

The event for a local church begins on Saturday evening with a time for the leadership. The church-wide event would then begin on Sunday morning and go through at least Wednesday night. If you decide to go further, follow the outline for Wednesday for the remaining dates. This gives our evangelist more time to meet people individually. Our Youth/Music person does not travel with us to every event. When he is with us, he will meet with the youth each night at the same time the kids are meeting with the evangelist, i.e., 30 minutes prior to worship time each night.

DATE: ______________, Saturday evening
  • Meet with the leadership of the congregation, including elected officials, staff, Bible Class and/or Sunday School teachers and all spouses. This should be a meal (whatever you choose). I will need about one hour during this time for a time of challenge to leaders. This is a time to discuss ways to enhance the outreach, mission, and ministry of your Church family.
DATE: ____________, Sunday
  • Meet with pastor and some prayer partners for prayer time early
  • Preach at regular morning praise and worship time(s)
  • B.L.T. - Meet with children K-5/6 and coaches thirty minutes before evening praise & worship time. The kids will share in the evening worship times. All coaches should arrive TEN minutes before this time to receive the training which will be used during the week.
  • Preach at evening praise & worship.
  • Mission & Ministry Challenge with Jr. & Sr. Hi. youth for ten-fifteen minutes (maximum) following the close of prayer & ministry time. Light refreshments for everyone.
DATE: _____________, Monday
  • Lead breakfast or noon study time if the church desires for the week. Visit in nursing homes, jails, civic clubs, etc., as speaker if desired.
  • B.L.T. - Meet with children K-5/6 and coaches thirty minutes before worship time. They will share in the evening worship time.
  • Preach evening praise & worship time.
  • Mission & Ministry Challenge with women for ten minutes following the close of prayer & ministry time. Light refreshments.

  • Thirty minutes prior to beginning of worship, our evangelist will meet with all children K-5/6 grades each night. If our Youth/Music person is with us, he will meet with the Jr Hi and Sr Hi youth during this same time and at others times as may be scheduled.
  • Welcome & opening prayer
  • Praise time one (whatever your church is used to doing). Praise is extremely important.
  • Don't cut it short. (Keep it up tempo.)

The Board of Directors for ON THE ROCK Ministries has determined that we will be a faith ministry. For local church events, our policy does not allow us to set a fee for our ministry labors. We ask that you not set a fee either. This might serve to limit God or to cause a hardship on the Church finances. This vision from our Board allows us to go to any church of any size that desires to use our ministry. Every Church is asked to share in this like manner. This is why we ask you to follow our financial plan, even if it is different than the way you have handled these events in the past. This policy allows us to go wherever we are called and then to let God meet the needs as He knows best. This financial plan is for local church revivals and events. Conferences, camps, and other special events where love offerings would be inappropriate should be discussed before hand.

EXPENSES:
ON THE ROCK Ministries does not set a fee. However, we do ask that the local church pay for our travel from Midland, Texas to your location. (Round-trip, unless we are coming from another church closer to you than Midland. In that case, we adjust the mileage charge so that each church would pay a fair share of the total mileage driven for that trip.) Our rate is $.365 per mile (or allowable IRS amount). If we use air travel, the local church should pay for the airfare round-trip from Midland International Airport to the closest available airport. Ground transportation should be provided by the local church. Travel expenses should be in the budget of your church, along with costs for nursery workers, advertising, musicians, etc. We have some materials we hand out and some awards for the B.L.T. program. This is the program for K-5/6 graders each night during the event. See the suggested schedule for times. This will all be cleared with the Pastor and the committee prior to the revival. These expenses usually are $4.00 or less per child in the B.L.T. program.

LOVE OFFERING:
We ask that you take a love offering each night during the worship time. If it is your custom to receive two offerings during morning worship, we encourage tithing for the local Church ministry and missions in the first offering. The second offering for ON THE ROCK Ministries should be a praise or overflow offering. This entire love offering, with those from each night for the week, should be made in one check to ON THE ROCK Ministries. We receive no local church or denominational funds other than love offerings to support our ministry. We ask only that you give people the opportunity to give freely and generously. The amount of the offering is not an issue for us, be it $50 or $5,000. We ask that you let your people know we are a faith ministry and the entire evening offerings are a way for the church to be in mission by sending us on the other places.
